"During my visit, I absolutely fell in love with the kids—they are so full of life and joy. Not only was I able to spend time with the orphans, I was able to witness how their lives have been transformed by their new home. In a short week, the children and I played games in the field, shook mangoes off of trees and dissected the poignant scent of fart leaves.
This trip was also blessed in another dimension when I was given the chance to personally spend time with my sponsored child, Yard. Yard is a young girl I have been sponsoring for the past five years. This experience had helped validate the difference my funds were making in her life. She was well cared for and loved by Father Shea and the house-moms, and she was also receiving adequate medication and a private-school education to better her future. Just $40/month can truly change a child’s life."

"My visit to the Sarnelli house was truly a privilege and unforgettable experience. I honestly didn’t know what to expect when arriving, but they greeted us like family. Anticipating our arrival, they prepared adorable dances to welcome us. Each grade showed their unmistakable talent in dancing and singing, smiling even wider and truer as each song passed. My little Jane was showing signs of a true diva. The experience was very humbling; such young kids with a burden any adult would crumble from still had the strength to laugh and play. They didn’t need iPods or gameboys; they were happy with a balloon tied to their ankles and the open sky outside. They didn’t want steaks or frilly desserts; they wanted fried chicken and pizza. They were so easily pleased and grateful for anything given. They are all so beautiful. I was surprised to see how easily we all carried conversations with them. We talked about everything from Thai soap operas to what it’s like being in America. They loved taking pictures and pulling you along like a sibling they never had. The kids are so precious and I completely fell in love. I am longing to go back and see how much they’ve grown. It’s a small price to pay to ensure their smiles never fade."
Anna recently attended the University of Texas at Austin and has just transferred to the University of Houston pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

"I went to the Sarnelli House with my sisters and mom helping them distribute gifts and food for the children back in the summer of 2005. In other words, I went there simply for volunteer work and did not expect much out of it. Most of the children are younger than the age of six and are too young to understand the burden that they possess—they simply want to enjoy life for what it’s worth, from playing on the monkey bars to posing in their favorite action stance for the camera. They possess this magnetism, this addictive, care-free attitude that draws and moves you... They do not expect foreign visitors very often and jump at the opportunity for new company. Still, most of them are too young to understand that they have accomplished more than I have ever done in my entire life… they have touched lives of unsuspecting strangers and forged friendships with all of their guests to make Sarnelli a home to all."
